Explore the natural side of the 1000 Islands. The 1000 Islands Region is filled with
activities that take advantage of this natural paradise. Clayton offers an outdoor
recreational playground to enjoy from fishing to kayaking, to diving and snorkeling, to
golfing, hiking, biking and camping.
The clear waters of the st. Lawrence also
provide a fishing experience second to
none. In fact, usa Weekend recently
named Clayton and the Thousand
Islands the number one bass fishing spot
in the country! There are any number
of game fish, sure to thrill the angler of
every ability. Northern pike, walleye,
bass, perch, pinfish and the elusive
trophy muskellunge continue to challenge
fisherman from all over the country and
attract professional fishing tournaments

Fishing maps are available, along with
plenty of bait, tackle and advice, at
local bait shops for those who would
rather fish on their own. Launch your
own boat and venture out to discover
your own "hot spot" or bring along a
folding chair and grab a pole and cast
off from the dock at Frink Park. For
your convenience, fishing licenses are
available at many locations throughout
Clayton.
For two centuries, Clayton has been the
center of 1000 Islands fishing action.
Years ago, the local fishing guides
plied the waters off Clayton carrying
the wealthy and famous on their annual
fishing excursions. Now the local guides
have powerboats equipped with the latest
fishing tackle, electronic equipment and
safety gear to ensure passengers' safety
and comfort. Your captain will ensure an
exciting experience, and may even end
your trip with a traditional shore dinner.
